  • Young Kim, AEMP, LAc

    Born in Seoul, Korea, where acupuncture and herbal therapies are common sources of health care, Young's education in natural healing and medicine began very early in life. His interest to study acupuncture and herbal medicine grew when he became aware of its effectiveness in natural healing power while it was not well known and widely accessible in the United States. He graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science degree and graduated from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine with a Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine which is known to be the number one leading acupuncture school in the North American region.

    After completing his studies in Oregon, Young returned to Washington in 2010 to open his first clinic, Essential Acupuncture in Seattle. With a strong interest in building healthy communities and his passion for promoting natural health, he was able to open his second clinic in Arlington in 2012. Third clinic in Kirkland 2021.

    Young’s area of specialties is pain control, digestive tract disorders, women’s health, and preventive care. Young has treated numerous conditions and had successful outcomes from patients with plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, Bell’s palsy, headache/migraine, fertility, fibromyalgia, anxiety, depression, Fatigue, women's health-related conditions, muscle pain, joint pain, any acute to chronic pain from sports and motor vehicle accident injuries.

    Young is known for his warmth and commitment to help his patients discover the opportunity that comes from health challenges. In addition, now he is focusing his practice on family health care, cancer care, sports athletes’ performance enhancement, and motor vehicle accident injury. On days he is not working he enjoys spending quality time with his two young boys and beautiful wife.

  • Zoe Lai, AEMP, LAc

    Zoe achieved her Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine in Chinese Medical University in Taiwan. After obtaining a Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Bastyr University of Washington, she became a licensed Acupuncturist in WA state and joined Essential Acupuncture.

    With the sports medicine background, Zoe has a strong clinical and anatomy foundation in assisting people to manage their pain through manual therapy and rehabilitation exercises, as well as extensive experience interfacing with athletes with various sports specialty, divisions and ages. Chinese Medicine is a holistic medicine which emphasizes not only on balancing, improving whole body health mentally and physically, but also harmonizing between human and nature. Believing that getting rid of the symptoms is not the end of the story, she brings her passion and enthusiasm to help you perform better, enjoy your life more and actually reach your goal. Correspondingly, she will push you a little more and treat you as if you are inherently strong instead of being fragile.

    In addition, to make herself a better practitioner and to have better ability to help people reduce their suffering, Zoe also equips herself with other nature healing skills, such as Craniosacral Therapy, Ashi Trigger point, deep tissue massage, athletic taping and Kinesio Taping.
